Fun Friday at Velocity: An Evening of Fun, Appreciation, and Togetherness
Download MarkDown

Most days at Velocity move fast, deadlines, deliverables, back-to-back calls. Fun Friday is the deliberate exception. It’s a few hours where the only goal is to slow down, step out from behind the screen, and remember that the people you work alongside are worth knowing beyond their job title. Teams that don’t usually interact ended up huddled around the same game, strategizing, laughing at their own mistakes, and cheering just as loudly for the other side as their own.
Fun Friday was more than just a day of activities – it was a celebration of our people, our culture, and the strong relationships that drive our success. We look forward to many more such moments that bring our teams together and make Velocity a great place to work.
The Games That We Played
Bottle Flip Tic Tac Toe

A fun twist on the classic Tic Tac Toe game, where participants must successfully flip a bottle before placing their mark on the board. The game combines skill, strategy, and excitement, encouraging players to think quickly while enjoying friendly competition.
Hula Hoop Relay
A team-based relay challenge where participants pass a hula hoop from one team member to another without breaking the chain. This activity promotes teamwork, coordination, communication, and problem-solving while keeping everyone actively engaged.
Burst the Balloon First

An energetic and fast-paced game where participants race to burst their balloons before their opponents. Filled with excitement and laughter, the game tests speed, agility, and determination, making it a crowd favourite during team-building events.
Strengthening Team Bonds

Fun Friday was more than just a day of games and activities. It gave employees from different teams an opportunity to interact, work together, and get to know each other better outside of their regular work responsibilities.
The fun challenges, friendly competition, and shared laughter created a positive and energetic atmosphere. These moments helped strengthen team bonds, improve collaboration, and reinforce the spirit of teamwork that is an important part of Velocity’s culture.
By the end of the afternoon, the lines between departments had blurred a little, and that’s really the point. A company runs on people who know how to work together, and moments like this are where that trust quietly gets built.
Rewards and Recognition

The event closed with a recognition segment, where the winners of each game were called out and celebrated in front of the whole group, for their effort, their quick thinking, and, in more than one case, sheer luck.
It’s a small gesture, but a meaningful one. Getting called out by name, in front of your peers, for something as low-stakes as a balloon game still means something. It’s easy to underestimate how much a moment of visible appreciation does for morale, especially outside the usual context of performance reviews and project wins. This was recognition for showing up, having fun, and being a good sport, and that mattered just as much to the room as any of the games themselves.
Fun Friday isn’t a one-off, and it isn’t meant to be. It’s a standing reminder that the people at Velocity are worth setting time aside for, not because of what they deliver on a given project, but because of who they are outside of it. The games will change next time, the winners will be different, but the reason behind it stays the same and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
